CSA

As part of the Customs Action Plan, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) introduced the Customs Self Assessment (CSA) program, a trade option for clients who invest in compliance.

Among other benefits, the CSA program gives approved importers, approved carriers, and registered drivers the benefits of a streamlined clearance option for CSA eligible goods. The streamlined clearance process ends the need for transactional transmissions of data related to eligible goods. This allows for the clearance of goods based on the identification of the approved importer, approved carrier, and registered driver.

CTPAT

C-TPAT is a voluntary government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security.

C-TPAT recognizes that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) can provide the highest level of cargo security only through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the international supply chain such as importers, carriers, consolidators, licensed customs brokers, and manufacturers.

Through this initiative, CBP is asking businesses to ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate and verify the security guidelines of their business partners within the supply chain.

CBSA-CSA

Member of the Canadian Customs Self Assessment (CSA) Program.

The CSA program is designed for low-risk, pre-approved importers, carriers and registered drivers. To take advantage of the program, CSA-approved importers and carriers must use a registered driver to carry CSA-eligible goods into Canada in the highway mode.

The CSA program simplifies many of the import border requirements so that low-risk shipments can be processed more quickly and efficiently at the border, saving businesses time and money.

It also allows the CBSA to better focus its resources on identifying high-risk shipments that pose a potential threat to the health, safety or economic well-being of Canadians.

ACE

The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the commercial trade processing system developed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to facilitate legitimate trade while strengthening border security.

Truck carriers are able to file an e-Manifest for shipments through the ACE Secure Data Portal or by utilizing the services of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) tested solution provider. The main benefits for truck carriers and their customers include reduce processing times at borders and streamlined administration with the ability to store conveyance, crew, equipment, shipper and consignee information in an account, reducing the amount of information submitted with each crossing.

Canada Bonded Carrier

The Bonded Carrier Program lets carriers move goods past the Canadian border to another Customs office, where duties and taxes are paid by the importer.

The Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA's) Import Process Division authorizes customs bonded carriers authorities in all modes of transportation. The division evaluates and approves bonded carrier and freight forwarder applications.
